Outdoor Living Reimagined

Outdoor Living Reimagined

The clients had several areas to address in this project. They had outgrown their existing garage, they required a main floor bedroom for aging parents, the sloping backyard was sunny and hot with significant drainage issues, and the existing brick terrace was small and impractical without shade or comfortable spaces.

Before Backyard

To complete this project, we organized their outdoor living area by providing composed cooking, dining and living spaces. The area is now home to several outdoor rooms including a new free-standing living pavilion and attached dining porch.

The existing rear brick terrace was reimagined as a smaller element with the primary purpose of concealing an extensive drainage plan and providing connection between the living pavilion and dining porch.

The existing garage was repurposed into a new guest suite for the homeowner’s parents.

To make up for the lost garage and storage space, a new three car garage was added to the property with gym and additional storage on the second floor.

This project was recognized as the "Best Residential Exterior" at the 2023 Contractor of the Year awards hosted by NARI of Greater Charlotte and the "Best General Renovation" at the 2024 MAME awards hosted by the HBA of Greater Charlotte. Enjoy the full space here.
