In 2025, the Roby Family of Companies is thrilled to announce a major milestone - 75 years in business! What began as a humble one-man remodeling firm in 1950 has grown into Charlotte’s premier residential and commercial contractor, with additional offices in Asheville and Boone, NC.

This remarkable journey would not have been possible without the dedication of our exceptional team, the loyalty of our clients, and the support of our trusted industry partners.

As we celebrate this milestone throughout the year, we’re excited to share stories from our past and reflect on the experiences that have shaped us into the company we are today.

Where It All Started

Andrew Roby (Robicsek), a Hungarian immigrant, founded the company in 1950 as a simple one-man remodeling and handyman service. Two years later, Roby hired his first employee, Mr. Glenn Haston, as Superintendent. The two established a formidable partnership and friendship and would work together for over 25 years. In 1976, Haston bought the firm outright. Today, the third generation of Haston leadership continues the company’s commitment to quality and superior service.

Where We Are Today

The Roby Family of Companies has grown to become the largest comprehensive construction company in the Carolinas since its first business launched in 1950. In addition to Andrew Roby, specializing in custom home construction and renovations, the family of companies includes Roby Services (electrical, handyman, heating and cooling and plumbing services), Roby Commercial (commercial construction and renovations), and Roby Realty (residential and commercial real estate buying and selling).
