A Trip Down Memory Lane
Mr. Andrew Roby and Mr. Glenn Haston worked side-by-side for over 25 years establishing Andrew Roby, Inc.'s reputation. Their unusual commitment to quality, attention to detail, and investment in experienced carpenters led to the company becoming the growing choice for renovations in the Charlotte market. The below timeline is a fun look back at the company's humble beginnings, steady growth and geographical expansion, all thanks to the groundwork these two men laid in the 1950's.
1950
Andrew Roby, a Hungarian immigrant, founded the company as a simple one-man remodeling and handyman service. Two years later, Roby hired his first employee, Glenn Haston, as Superintendent.
1976
Haston bought the firm outright. Today, the third generation of Haston leadership continues the company’s commitment to quality and superior service.
1992
Jeff Robinette, Roby's longest serving employee (outside of the Haston family), joined the team. Affectionately known to many as "Mouse", Jeff has served countless Andrew Roby clients over the last 30+ years.
1996
The first Roby red pickup truck hit the streets! Previously, all Roby branding was blue.
1998
Recognizing the need for experienced electricians and quality electrical contractors in the market, Roby Electric was founded.
2008
The company's annual Pitchin’ for Wishes Cornhole Tourney was born. The inaugural event raised over $30,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Today, the event supports Make-A-Wish Central & Western NC and has raised over $3 million for the organization and other local charities.
2009
Roby Commercial was launched to focus exclusively on commercial projects crafted with the same exceptional quality, detail, and customer-focused care that Andrew Roby clients have enjoyed since 1950.
2012
Andrew Roby expanded to Boone, NC. Rather than starting from scratch and hiring a new general contractor, a longtime Charlotte client and friend brought the company along to build their second home in this new market.
2015
Roby Realty was established to assist clients with all their residential and commercial real estate needs.
2015
“At Home with Roby” radio show hit the airwaves. Hosts Trent Haston and Patrick MacIsaac continue to chat with local business owners and entrepreneurs on the popular weekly podcast.
2018
Following its acquisition of W.H. Hobbs Plumbing, Roby Electric was rebranded to Roby Services. Today, the company offers electrical, handyman, HVAC and plumbing services in Charlotte and Boone, NC.
2022
Andrew Roby expanded to Asheville, NC.
2025
